Patient Health
The best health for the most people at the best cost.

The Patient Health group at Merck Frosst provides a facilitating structure for creating unprecedented partnerships in the healthcare system, advancing innovative approaches to healthcare and responding to the pressing need for a more effective and efficient healthcare system in Canada. The vision of Merck Frosst is to move healthcare towards a reaffirmation of patient-centred, evidence-based medicine. Knowledge is the key to discovering new medicines and developing new therapies. Thus, gathering and analyzing knowledge about what healthcare strategies and therapies work best — and ensuring it is passed on to those who can use it — becomes the key to providing the best health for the most people at the best cost.
Optimally, a patient health initiative brings together the complete range of individuals and groups involved in healthcare: governments, private insurers, university researchers, patients, community specialists and family physicians, nurses, pharmacists and pharmaceutical companies. The patient is the focal point of patient health programs.
Merck Frosst is driven by the belief that healthcare can be improved when using resources and drug therapies in the most effective and appropriate ways. It is in this spirit that Merck Frosst has explored and implemented in real life clinical settings the concept of patient health. Merck Frosst is involved in several patient health initiatives in Canada such as: TEAM (Towards Excellence in Asthma Management in Quebec ), ROCQ (Recognizing Osteoporosis and its Consequences in Québec), MOMM (Maximizing Osteoporosis Management in Manitoba ) and ASTHMA (Alberta Strategy To Help Manage Asthma).
